This is a reading and writing lesson for second graders.

Goal: Help students to improve their reading and writing skills. Encourage and maintain their interest in reading during the up coming summer moths. Using this exciting and challenging method will increase student attention to reading and writing.
Task: Students will learn the use of multimedia by recording their Reading Club activities, taking pictures, creating posters with pictures taken and ultimately making a Power Point presentation.

Book Club
Process: Part One
• Book Club will be meeting on Tuesdays and Thursday for One hour at the end of the class.
• Each student will choose a short story book, practice reading it at home. Look for new words and meanings.
• Student will prepare a written statement about; what they like must about the book and why? The written statement should include the new words with its meaning.
• Book will be read and discuss during Book Club time, also new words with its meaning will be discuss. Pictures will be taken during student participation.
• Picture of each student will be taken while reading book and during discussion. Picture of student holding book to show titled will be also taken.
• Students can read as many books as they want, when each student fish with their turn, they will be ask, who wants to go again?
• Before going into process two, one section of the Reading Club will be dedicated to:
a) Spell checking and grammatical changes to written work.
b) Draw, cut pictures (from magazines or news papers) or use clip art, to decorate presentation of written work.
This will be done collectively; students will share clips, help and make suggestions to each other.


Process: Part Two
• Once part one is finish, all work should be collected and display on a tag board ready for student to take final picture with end result. This will be place on wall or table with student pointing and being proud of their work.
• Each student will take turns taking pictures of one class mate with their work.
• Process of picture transferring and how we are going to use the Power Point presentation will be explained as a class presentation by me. (will be using personal computer)
• Time for project will not be set since students can read and present as many books as they want.
• Each student will make a presentation of their work to the program director. Their presentation would be supported with the Power Point Presentation.

Evaluation: Each student will be given a certificate for each book read and presentation.
Conclusion: Want to encourage students to read and write. I hope they like this process and will keep the love for it. I hope we can do it again!
